Dr. William
Pierce, M.D., Evan Pugh Professor of Surgery Emeritus, was the
speaker for the 5th Annual Rob Hamilton Memorial Lecture on
September 15th at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Dr.
Pierce gave the presentation entitled, “An Odyssey in Mechanical
Circulatory Support,” which took the captivated audience on a
fascinating journey of the pioneering efforts led by him and his team
during the development of a state of the art totally implantable
mechanical heart device, a device that’s poised to become a main stream,
life saving treatment option for many heart failure patients. Thank you
